Blogging, Twitter and IT Freebies

This course enables teachers to use blogging and social media as a learning tool and for further Professional Development. Teachers will apply research based learning methods to implement learning tools into their blog. Teachers will develop a blog drawing from their knowledge of the curriculum and how this would apply to their classes.

Teachers will examine how social media can be used to engage students in their learning and also be used as a reflective tool. Teachers will develop a Professional Learning Network that is meaningful and useful through the use of Twitter. Teachers will discuss the benefits for themselves and their school communities.

There are some really great free tech tools that teachers will access during the course of the day. Teachers will have continued access to all resources.

IT PD & English

This course has been customised for English teachers.

Teachers will have the opportunity to select and develop content from their programs into a Google Website that would be used as a learning tool for one of their classes. Learning to use Google docs and adding learning objects to their sites will enhance teachers’ skills in adapting current curriculum into these new technologies.

Teachers will have the opportunity to examine how a variety of technology resources can be used in the classroom to engage students in learning and will encourage students not only to produce quality work that can be shared in a meaningful way to their parents, caregivers or other members of the community but develop their skills as digital citizens.
